General Director of ANRE, Alexei Taran, met with Artur Lorkowski, Director of the Energy Community Secretariat





On June 6, 2025, the general director of the National Agency for Energy Regulation (ANRE), Alexei Taran met with the director of the Energy Community Secretariat (ECS), Artur Lorkowski.

 

The meeting took place in the context of the 6th High-Level Energy Dialogue between the EU and the Republic of Moldova, held in Chișinău on June 5 2025.

 

The parties discussed the current trends and priorities in regulating the electricity and natural gas markets in the Republic of Moldova, including:

  • the progress in transposing EU regulations into Moldova's secondary legislation;
  • the challenges related to the gas supply in the context of designating SA “Energocom” as the Public Service Obligation supplier;
  • the progress related to electricity market coupling, including the challenges associated with system services and balancing markets.

 

ANRE directors have underlined the importance of cooperating with Energy Community Secretariat in supporting the reforms and aligning the national legislation to European standards. Both sides have emphasized their commitment to continue to develop a resilient, open and functional energy market that guarantees a safe and fair access to energy for all citizens.

 

The director of the Energy Community Secretariat acknowledged the efforts of Moldovan authorities, including ANRE in drafting and approving a predictable and transparent regulatory framework. He has reiterated the importance of maintaining an accelerated rapid pace of reforms to align fully with European norms in the energy sector.

 

Furthermore, Artur Lorkowski emphasized the Secretariat’s readiness to continue to provide technical assistance and the necessary expertise, including ad-hoc assistance, to facilitate the transposition of EU regulations and address implementation challenges.

 

The directors of ANRE have expressed their appreciation for the ongoing support, particularly during the energy crisis.
