The general director of the National Agency for Energy Regulation (ANRE), Alexei Taran, has participated at the celebration event of 20 Years of the Energy Community, which was held in Athens, Greece.
The event has brought together ministers from the contracting party countries, senior European officials, including European Commissioners, representatives of the Greek Government and the Director of the Energy Community Secretariat, Artur Lorkowski.
The participants at the event have discussed the progress achieved in the last 20 years of joint activity, the accelerated integration of the electricity market in the region with the EU electricity market and the continued alignment with European climate objectives.
The general director of ANRE, Alexei Taran, has emphasized that over the years, the cooperation with the Energy Community Secretariat and regional partners has been essential for the harmonization of the national legislation with EU standards, the integration of energy systems and strengthening the energy security of the Republic of Moldova. Energy Community's continuous support has paved the way to tangible results, accelerated the transition to a more competitive, interconnected and decarbonized energy market, that brings benefits to every consumer in the country.
The event agenda included an informal meeting of the Ministerial Council that was focused on the full market coupling with EU electricity market before the accession to EU, discussions regarding the fair transition to a low-carbon economy, and other working sessions.
The participation at the event underlines ANRE's firm commitment to continue the implementation the necessary reforms in the energy sector in close cooperation with European and regional institutions, that would ensure a secure, sustainable and competitive energy future for citizens.
