On May 30, 2024, the General Director of ANRE, Veaceslav Untila, along with other members of the Administration Council held a working meeting in Chișinău with the Vice President of ANRE Romania, Gabriel Andronache, who attended the 6th edition of the Regional Approach Conference in Chișinău, organized by Energynomics.
The two sides discussed several priority topics related to the development of the electricity sector in the Republic of Moldova, including the interconnection of the electricity networks between Romania and the Republic of Moldova and the designation of the electricity market operator OPEM, which aim to open new opportunities for the market participants and Romanian investors.
The Vice President of ANRE Romania shared the country’s experience in promoting, regulating and balancing the electricity produced from renewable sources, especially by wind and photovoltaic power plants. Romania’s experience is extremely useful and relevant for the emerging energy market of the Republic of Moldova.
The parties have discussed other important issues related the diversification of the natural gas market, the connection to the vertical corridor through the trans-Balkan gas pipeline, the regulation of the natural gas market and the implementation of the acquis communautaire.
Veaceslav Untila thanked his Romanian counterpart for the effective collaboration between the two institutions, appreciating the availability and willingness of Romanian colleagues to provide the necessary support and expertise in all areas of market regulation.
