The members of the Administration Council of the National Agency for Energy Regulation (ANRE) had another working meeting with the representatives of the Monitoring Mission of the International Monetary Fund (IMF).
During the meeting, ANRE Directors have informed the representatives of the IMF about the progress and developments on electricity and natural gas market made since the last meeting in July 2019. Since then, ANRE was able to examine and approve the tariffs for the distribution systems operators (DSO) and electricity suppliers, including the basic costs for S. A. "Moldovagaz".
The IMF representatives emphasized the importance of maintaining and strengthening the institutional independence of ANRE and the need to adjust the regulated tariffs and prices based on methodologies which were coordinated with the Energy Community Secretariat.
The participants at the meeting stressed that the regulator will act according to the legal provisions, and ensure transparency in the decision-making process, while organizing public consultations for the draft decisions that are to be examined.
A subject discussed in particular was the evolution of the acquisition price of natural gas for 2020 and its impact on the distribution tariffs. The parties also discussed the accumulated financial deviations and the restructuring plan of S.A. "Moldovagaz."
