On March 9, 2023, Veaceslav Untila, director general of the National Agency for Energy Regulation (ANRE) met with the World Bank delegation led by Senior Energy Specialist Sandeep Kohli.
The representatives of the World Bank were interested to know more about the evolution of gas prices and how these are reflected in the regulated prices for consumers, as well as, the mechanisms applied when calculating and reflecting the accumulated tariff deviations, in the context of the energy crisis.
The parties have discussed the performance audit conducted by the Court of Accounts of the Republic of Moldova at the gas supplier SA Moldovagaz, and how the results of the international audit will influence the activity of the gas supplier and the regulated gas prices. During the meeting the parties have also discussed about the actions taken by the authorities to diversify gas and electricity supply sources, as well as, the certification of the transmission system operator SRL Moldovatransgaz.
The general director of ANRE, Veaceslav Untila provided more information on the latest tariff and regulated price adjustments, and the way the gas tariff deviations are calculated and reflected in tariffs.
The World Bank energy team is visiting the Republic of Moldova during March 6 - 10, 2023 to meet with Government counterparts in the newly formed Cabinet, and in particular counterparts from the new Ministry of Energy.
