On February 19, 2020, the Director of the National Agency for Energy Regulation (ANRE), Mr. Eugen Carpov, attended the 5th Meeting of the Association Committee of the Republic of Moldova - European Union, co-chaired by the Secretary of State of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration, Mrs. Tatiana Molcean and Mr. Luc Devigne, Director for Russia, Eastern Partnership, Central Asia and OSCE, the European External Action Service.
During the event, the Mr. Carpov delivered a short presentation of ANRE’s activity on the following topics:
- the importance of enhancing the independence and the level of professionalism of the energy regulator;
- the process of separation and certification (unbundling) of the Transmission System Operators of natural gas and electricity;
- enhancing the transparency in the processes of procurement and investment in the energy sector;
- the tariff setting mechanisms that would allow the Ungheni - Chisinau gas pipeline to be put into service.
The EU representatives appreciated the actions taken by ANRE to fulfill its commitments and expressed the availability to continue to provide the necessary assistance in order to attain its objectives and tasks. The European partners stressed also that it is very important that state institutions ensure the energy security of Republic of Moldova by finalizing the interconnection projects that will allow the diversification of natural gas and electricity supply sources.
