Following the latest mass-media reports regarding the process of adjusting the prices and tariffs for electricity, the National Agency for Energy Regulation (ANRE) would like to mention that all ANRE decisions are taken strictly according to provisions of the legislation in force. ANRE exercises its powers independently, while respecting the principles of fairness, impartiality, transparency and non-discrimination.
Thus, all interested parties, including the energy experts and civil society representatives, had the opportunity to express its view regarding the calculations of regulated electricity prices and tariffs submitted by licensees, which were published on ANRE website for public consultations, but also on calculations conducted by ANRE following the examination of supporting materials submitted by the licensees.
Subsequently, those interested had the opportunity to attend the public hearing on August 16, where the regulated electricity prices and tariffs for were examined and approved. We would like to mention that the regulated electricity prices and tariffs were approved in strict compliance with provisions of the Law on Electricity and the Tariffs Methodologies. The ANRE point of view and arguments regarding the adjustment of prices and tariffs have been made public and are available on the website www.anre.md.
In this regard, ANRE would like to inform the final electricity consumers, but also the political actors that the ANRE does not follow or obey any political party instructions. Given the upcoming local elections on October 20, 2019, ANRE would like to urge the politicians to leave the Agency out of the election campaign and avoid a biased or distorted presentation of topics related to electricity prices and tariffs.
