CEER 2020 Annual Conference: "European Green Deal and decarbonisation at least cost”

On January 23, 2020, Mr. Eugen Carpov, the Director of the National Agency for Energy Regulation, attended the CEER 2020 Annual Conference: " European Green Deal and decarbonisation at least cost.” The event that was held in Brussels was organized by the Council of European Energy Regulators (CEER), where the Republic of Moldova holds observer status since November 2016.

The European Union has developed the European Green Deal with the goal to become the first climate-neutral block in the world, by 2050. In order to achieve this objective, the EU, national governments, international structures and energy companies need to join their efforts and work together. Significant investments are also necessary, both from the EU and the public sector, as well as the private sector.

The participants at the conference emphasized that concrete actions need to continue to be implemented in order to meet the deadlines of the European Green Deal and decarbonisation, while focusing at the same time on: the use of renewable energy, energy efficiency, investments in infrastructure and the implementation of environmentally friendly industrial technologies.

The event gathered high-level officials from the European Commission, the European Parliament, the leaders of ACER, ENTSO-G, ENTSO-E, Eurelectric, and energy regulators.
