ANRE leadership met the representatives of International Monetary Fund

On January 30, 2020, ANRE had a meeting with the representatives of the International Monetary Fund (IMF), led by Mr. Ruben ATOYAN.

The parties discussed the progress made by the Government of the Republic of Moldova with regards to IMF lending programs, as well as the latest regulations on the natural gas and electricity markets made by ANRE.

Mr. Calmâc, Director of ANRE has informed the IMF representatives about the adjustments of electricity tariff done in August 2019, as well as the approval of the basic costs, transport tariffs and investment plans of S.A. Moldovagaz, and its subsidiary companies.

ANRE is also assessing the financial deviations of the whole natural gas sector accumulated during 2011-2019 and preparing a decision regarding the unbundling of the transmission system operated by Moldovagaz SA, according to European practices and the Third Energy Package requirements.

Lastly, ANRE has expressed its commitment to accelerate the assessment and decision making process related to financial deviations accumulated by the transport, distribution and supply activities of SA Moldovagaz during 2011-2019, and come up with a mechanism to cover these deviations, as well as the operational costs based on the new regulatory framework recently approved by ANRE.

ANRE will inform promptly the IMF Mission about the progresses made.

The Director of ANRE added that, all the actions undertaken by ANRE remain in strict compliance with the legal provisions, ensuring maximum transparency in the decision-making process and institutional independence.
