ANRE has approved the regulated prices for natural gas supply for S.A. "Moldovagaz"

On October 28, 2020, the National Agency for Energy Regulation (ANRE) held a public meeting online in order to examine the request of approving the regulated prices of the largest natural gas supplier in the country - S.A. "Moldovagaz." Following the analysis of the necessary set of reports submitted by S.A. "Moldovagaz", ANRE reconfirmed that there are several factors that allow the decrease of natural gas prices supplied to final consumers.

The regulated prices for natural gas were examined according to the Methodology for calculating and applying the tariffs and regulated prices for natural gas (approved by the Administration Council of ANRE, Decision no. 678/22.08.2014).

The values of the regulated expenses of the operator have been adjusted according to parameters provided by the Methodology, as follows:

- consumer price index in the Republic of Moldova for 2020 - 5.7%, according to the updated Forecast of the macroeconomic indicators for 2018-2020;
- the average (annual) exchange rate of the national currency MDL against the US dollar - 17.37 MDL/USD.

Other factors that contributed to the decrease of the regulated prices of natural gas to final consumers, include:

- the decrease of the average import price of natural gas;
- changes in the exchange rate (MDL/USD).

In order to ensure the reliability of supply to final consumers and adjust prices to real costs, the Administration Council of ANRE has approved the regulated prices of natural gas for S.A. "Moldovagaz" at the following access points:

- entry to gas transmission networks - 2,613 MDL/1000 m3, 12.1% lower than the price approved in 2018;

- exit from natural gas transmission networks - 2,895 MDL/1000 m3, 9.5% lower than the price approved in 2018;

- exit/outflow from high pressure natural gas distribution networks - 3,910 MDL/1000 m3, 6.8% lower compared to the price approved in 2018;

- exit/outflow from medium pressure natural gas distribution networks - 4,018 MDL/1000 m3, 10.7% lower compared to 2018;

- exit/outflow from low pressure natural gas distribution networks - 4,298 MDL/1000 m3, 12.2% lower than the price approved in 2018 for consumers connected to the low pressure network.
