ANRE Directors met with Volodymyr BOIECHKO, the Chargé D'affaires ad Interim of Ukraine in Moldova.

 

On September 24, the directors of the National Agency for Energy Regulation (ANRE) met with Mr. Volodymyr BOIECHKO, the Chargé D'affaires ad Interim of Ukraine in Moldova.

 

The discussions focused on the cooperation in the energy sector, regional energy security, and the supply of the two countries with natural gas.

 

Mr. Veaceslav Untila, the General Director of ANRE mentioned that the relations between the regulatory authorities of the two countries, as well as, the relations between the energy companies have seen a constant development, also as part of cooperation within the Energy Community, to which the Republic of Moldova and the Ukraine joined in 2010. The technical support received and the exchange of experience in the energy sector have encouraged the two countries to implement the best European practices.

 

Both sides discussed the actions that need to be taken to ensure the supply of natural gas and electricity of both the Ukraine and the Republic of Moldova in the context of uncertainty of the continuation of natural gas supply from the Russian Federation, through the pipelines that transit the Ukraine and the Republic of Moldova, starting January 2020. The sides also discussed the alternative sources of natural gas supply to the Republic of Moldova for the coming winter season.

 

Mr. Volodymyr BOIECHKO, has encouraged the dialogue between the Moldovan and the Ukrainian side, and added that considering the current market situation it is important that the governments, ministries and the operators from the energy sector communicate with each other directly. And only by working together the sides can overcome and solve their current issues.

 

The parties also agreed to continue close cooperation in the energy sector regulation.
